Monson Massachusetts was officially incorporated in 1760. Waterpower was abundant and small mills were scattered over the 48 square miles and thrived for more than 100 years.
These industries have since been replaced by the plastic industry and by Zero Manufacturing Company. Monson Development Center is a facility housing severely handicapped residents and has a pleasant campus setting on 700 acres of land.
The towns Memorial Hall houses a fine Civil War Museum and auditorium. Other museums include an 1811 restored home and a 58 acre farm with a farmhouse containing the only Button Museum. Tourism is popular here because of all of the natural beauty of Monson and its surrounding land.
